A Wicked Slice a.k.a. “The Jake”

Fresh out of the oven, “The Jake” is named after Derek’s son who introduced us to this recipe to share with the WHF crew. Admittedly it takes some prep work for the homemade dough, but trust us – it’s worth it! We topped ours with shaved sprouts (of course), but you can pick any veg you like!

  • Whole-wheat flour
  • All purpose flour
  • Yeast
  • Salt
  • Olive oil
  • Pizza sauce – tomato sauce
  • Toppings

DAY 1:
1. Combine and stir to dissolve

  • 1 ½ tsp. yeast
  • ½ Cup warm water
  • 2. Sift together
  • 1 ½ Cup flour (1 cup WW, ½ cup all purpose)
  • ½ tsp. salt

2. Place 1 ½ tsp. oil in center of sifted ingredients.
3. Add yeast mixture
4. Mix dough thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
5. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface (5 to 10 minutes) until texture is smooth
6. Put ½ tsp. oil in a plastic bag to coat the inside. Place dough in bag. Squeeze to force air out
and seal bag.
7. Label and refrigerate.

DAY 2:
1. Take dough from the refrigerator several hours before using.
2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
3. On a lightly floured board, roll out dough.
4. Place dough on a greased pizza pan. With oiled fingers, stretch dough to fill the pan.
5. Spread pizza sauce on the dough.
6. Add toppings.
7. Bake for 15 minutes or until crust is golden
